It was the summer of 2003 and MP3.com's active message board community was heating up as well -- with flame wars.
Along came Chaz Fanaro, looking to cut through the negative noise. He began to interview many of the musical artists who pitched a tent on the popular indie music forum. Others pitched in with questions of their own. July of 2003 could have turned ugly, but thanks to the interviews blanketing the forum, it became a home for insight and mutual respect.
The forums were wiped clean by Vivendi in December, 2003. The interviews live on.

As a new artist on MP3.com, what are your expectations and goals for your on-line music?
R2060
My goal is just to get my music out there, and to have people enjoy it. I spend so much time cooped up in my apt. trying to make cool music. If just a few people dig it, then it means a lot to me. My expectations are unknown. This is a whole new place I am taking my music to. Hopefully being a Mp3.com artist will help expose my music so I can get onto a label.

What experience do you have playing live?
R2060
Just a few times. The biggest obstacle for me is getting a strong set together and figuring out how to get from one song to another. I really need a laptop. The few times I have played live was really awesome. I created a video that played as a backdrop.(It was a loop of stairs) I like to keep the songs fresh , so I usually do stuff that was not in the original song, so thats cool.

What is your goal and what are you planning for your music?

Just been playing your stuff, 1st time I heard your music. Most interesting. I wish I knew more about sampling and synths. I had a go at some keyboard stuff on a $100 keyboard and need to progress in that area !
Did you ever listen to much ENO ?
