The Chaz Interviews - July, 2003
by Chaz and the MP3.com artists

It was the summer of 2003 and MP3.com's active message board community was heating up as well -- with flame wars. Along came Chaz Fanaro, looking to cut through the negative noise. He began to interview many of the musical artists who pitched a tent on the popular indie music forum. Others pitched in with questions of their own. July of 2003 could have turned ugly, but thanks to the interviews blanketing the forum, it became a home for insight and mutual respect. The forums were wiped clean by Vivendi in December, 2003. The interviews live on.

Leigh Silver

Artist description
Originally hailing from Philadelphia, Leigh packed up her car and drove cross country to LA in pursuit of her rock and roll dreams. Her first EP was completed in September of 2000, and included guest performances by such notables as Tommy Stinson (Replacements, Guns N' Roses); John Dolmayan (System of a Down); and Chris Vrenna (NIN). By 2001, Leigh and her band, Bitter Things, began playing shows in the L.A. area, and have made frequent appearances at such clubs as the Dragonfly, the Gig, and the Troubadour. Her second EP, produced by Sean O'Dwyer (blink 182, sum 41, strife, fenix tx) and mixed by Julian Beeston has now been released, and features contributions by legendary songwriter/producer Kim Fowley, the band Lucky 7, and Bryce Martin (Damone). Artist History
Leigh Silver 2003 BIO Think Avril Lavigne meets Joan Jett. Leigh is just what Rock & Roll needs right now. -Mike Galaxy/Band Promote. First of all. Let's get to the point. Leigh Silver is a STAR. Its that simple. Leigh Silver =Rockstar -Todd Trash-Reject Records Leigh Silver just may be the hottest up and coming female artist in Los Angeles. -kweevak.com Originally hailing from Philadelphia, Leigh has spent the past 3 years in Rock Star 101 as a bartender at the LA premier rock breeding ground, the Troubadour. She was not created by producers of a "reality" show, or assembled in a "Franken-Popstar" type laboratory in sunny Florida. She honed her craft on the mean streets of Philadelphia using a trial-by-fire regiment to develop her incredible voice, stage presence, and songwriting skills. Instead of aspiring for a slot on the Mickey Mouse Klub, she packed-up and moved to LA. Instead of singing live to a DAT, she formed a kick-ass live band, the Bitter Things. Within a few shows, Hollywood was abuzz about the new-kid-in-town, and soon after she was working on a debut EP with the respected musical forces of Tommy Stinson (Replacements, Guns n' Roses) Chris Vrenna (Nine Inch Nails) John Dolmayan (System of a Down) and Mark Blasquez (Line 6). Since, she has co-written 26 songs with legendary producer/songwriter Kim Fowley. She has also worked with Lucky 7, Shaun Kama (Damnation), and many others. Bitter Things has been rapidly expanding its presence in the Los Angeles music scene with a growing fan base -over 25,000 hits on website, a huge online presence and write-ups in several local mags. Leigh was also nominated for song and album of the year -2002(justplainfolks.com) and featured as "track of the day" for three different songs, two in rock and one in pop at garageband.com- solely picked by a jury of her peers. She was the January-February 2003 cover girl of California Song Magazine (50,000 distribution in California) All Access magazine's January calendar girl, received a glowing review in a recent edition of Music Connection, featured on live 105 fm in san francisco, and most recently..had songs placed on M-TV's "Surf Girls". The new BitterThings EP will be available mid summer, produced by Sean O' Dwyer. Other projects Sean has worked on have included: Sum 41, Blink 182, Fenix TX, and Strife.

You have quite a resume Leigh. What direction would you like to see your career follow? Movies? TV? Arena concerts?

leigh242
i would like to tour the world.
did u check out any of the tunes?

Chaz the Spaz
Yes I have, several times. I'm having a tough time deciding which one to put on the Interrogation Station. Your music sound like the Go GO's meet the Police.

leigh242

i have heard the go gos...but never the police...

Chaz the Spaz
How did you first become interested in music, and what do you mean, you never heard of the Police??

Chaz the Spaz
What are your goals and what do you have planned for your music?
